After taking a break from entering awards because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Shooting Star is back with a bang after being shortlisted for not one, but three awards at the UK Digital Excellence Awards (UK DEA).
We have been nominated for Best Charity/Not-for-profit Campaign, Best Audience Engagement and Integrated Campaign of the Year.
When the agency launched in 2006 our focus was on public relations; however, in 2017 we expanded to include digital marketing and we are delighted to be recognised for the results of our work in this field.
These award nominations are a fantastic reflection of the knowledge and experience of our agency, which recently celebrated its 16th anniversary, and the skills and capabilities of our talented team. Winning would be a feather in the cap for our team who have worked really hard to establish Shooting Star as one of the leading digital agencies in the region.
A key growth area for Shooting Star during 2022 has been video production. After investing in high-quality video and sound equipment we can offer a reasonably priced service to clients looking for short-form videos such as staff or client interviews. These can really help to bring corporate social media channels to life and massively improve reach and engagement.
Video has also proved essential to social media advertising campaigns and has worked well for clients looking to improve their employer branding and attract new recruits. Enlisting the help of existing employees to tell the brand story can be immensely powerful and significantly impact the perception of a business.
We’ve undertaken an increasing amount of work in social media management generally particularly in the tourism and hospitality sector running national organic and paid-for campaigns. We’ve also set up our own TikTok account to give potential employees a behind-the-scenes look at Shooting Star and agency life to support our own employer branding and recruitment efforts.
Although we work for private and public-sector clients across a variety of sectors, we’re particularly proud to have been shortlisted for our third-sector work as we have supported lots of charities and organisations both on a paid-for and pro bono basis.
In 2022 we launched the Lighten the Load campaign with client Carers First which provides support to thousands of unpaid carers in Lincolnshire, Waltham Forest, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, Haringey, Newham, Hackney and Medway.
Working with celebrity influencers like Kate Garraway, who spoke openly about her experience being a carer for her husband Derek, we achieved some fantastic online coverage. Channel 4 daytime chat show Steph’s Packed Lunch also picked up the story, resulting in a significant increase in carer registrations and traffic to the Carers First website.
As well as paid work we also offer our services pro bono to a different charity every year which would otherwise not be able to afford PR and marketing support.
To raise funds we also host an annual Chippy Quiz and raffle and set ourselves various fund-raising challenges throughout the year.
Over the past 16 years Shooting Star has continued to grow its team and its client base and has recently appointed three new members of staff. After such a successful year, being nominated for the UK Digital Excellence Awards is really the icing on the cake and we look forward to seeing what exciting opportunities 2023 will bring.
