Following stellar growth and some amazing client wins, Hookflash is delighted to have been nominated for the award for Start-Up Agency of the Year at the UK Digital Excellence Awards.

Having been founded almost exactly a year ago, we’re thrilled to have helped over 40 clients get set-up with a better analytics foundation, and starting to use the data to squeeze more from their website.

With a deep expertise and history in Google Analytics, we knew we could help brands as they moved to GA4 (or chosen alternatives). And we are so excited to use analytics as platform to understand more about user journeys and how to help make websites rank better.

Winning an award for Start-Up Agency of the Year would really be the icing on a cake of a very good year – ironically enough, one that ended with a Christmas Bake-Off social! It would be just rewards for an incredible, passionate and smart team that has worked their socks off to ensure our clients can trust their data, are set-up for success and seeing greater returns than ever from their website.

Driving impact

One of our founding principles at Hookflash was, to make analytics actionable. Far too often analytics endeavours and projects can start with a tagging issue and end with a technical solution. Whilst this is a part of the process, we know how important it is that data is accessible, used to drive insights and the foundation for positive change.

Within that we’re delighted with how we’ve supported clients so far, including:

  • Launched 5 experimentation programs for clients that had never used this discipline before. For example, with The Underdays, our journey of experimentationhas meant they onboarded a testing tool, have run 6 tests to date and generated an incremental 6% increase in revenue. Likewise for one of our travel clients, we’ve mitigated a loss of over £100k by testing changes that would otherwise have gone live, whilst also generating a significant increase in revenue too.
  • We’ve also delivered over 25 dashboards in the past 12 months, all custom-designed and built around our clients requirements. We’re often using Looker Studio but are more than happy deploying in client tools if that’s the preference. We particularly focus on the usability and plain English explanations we provide on our dashboards.
  • Launching the most analytical SEO you’ll know. With a foundation in data, it’s no surprise that a core element of what we do is focused on building dashboards and reports to ensure that all of the SEO work we do is clearly quantifiable and followed up on.
  • Finally, we’ve trained over 20 clients, and more than 300 people in 2023, all through our bespoke training programs. Whilst some clients prefer a quick half day workshop, with other clients like Hearst UK we designed custom programs to take almost 100 people through a three-tired training from Beginner to Advanced.

We also understand the importance in providing our clients with advice on guidance in the tools they choose to get more from their website. We’ve spoken to over 30 platforms in the past 12 months and evaluated them on merit. In turn that has led to us pursuing partnerships with those tools which we believe to be best-in-class and as a result, we’re proud to now partner with the likes of Optimizely, AB Tasty, Contentsquare, Mixpanel and Infinity.

Our focus on delivering high quality projects, our growing client base, and the dedication of our team is something we’re really proud of.

Given we don’t buy media (or plan to!), we’re also helping to level up the standard of measurement and analytics by working closely with digital media agencies.

Winning our first award would be a real milestone moment, and something we will always remember. It’s a great testament to the hard work and energy that the team has put into Hookflash since it’s inception, and something we’d add to our new office mantelpiece with pride!
