Who We Are
The Despatch Company is a Yorkshire-based SaaS business built to solve one of eCommerce’s most persistent and costly problems: the operational fragmentation that occurs when fast-growing businesses try to scale on systems that were never designed to work together.
Founded by Matthew Dunne, the company develops and operates a suite of eCommerce operations products used by thousands of brands, retailers, 3PLs, and fulfilment centres across the UK. The platform is built around three products: Helm, a warehouse management system that coordinates fulfilment at scale; Voila, a delivery connectivity platform managing carrier logic, label generation, and shipping rules; and Neuro, a channel integration platform connecting businesses to over 150 sales channels and marketplaces.
The platform is architected as three tightly integrated layers (Helm, Voila, and Neuro), each addressing a distinct operational challenge. Customers can deploy the layer that solves their most pressing problem, while those whose needs span fulfilment, delivery, and connectivity benefit from the platform working as a single, continuous operational flow.
The Platform: Solving Real Operational Problems at Scale
Most eCommerce businesses grow into fragmentation. A warehouse management system here, a shipping tool there, a handful of marketplace integrations bolted on top. It works at low volume. Under sustained growth and peak pressure, it becomes a structural liability.
The Despatch Company’s platform was built to remove that friction directly, whether that means replacing a single failing tool or consolidating an entire operational stack. Orders move through fulfilment, delivery logic, and channel connectivity without manual hand-offs, duplicated data entry, or the kind of operational guesswork that causes mispicks, delays, and costly customer service failures.
What makes the platform genuinely different is its ability to absorb complexity without passing it on to warehouse teams or support processes. Issues are identified and resolved within the system itself, quickly and without disrupting live operations. When courier partner Evri identified that certain regulated products could not be processed through their automated systems due to labelling requirements, The Despatch Company implemented a platform-level solution that embedded the required warnings directly into standard labels, restoring automated processing without any manual intervention. When luxury furniture retailer DUSK needed to access FedEx but faced a data compatibility challenge, the platform was adapted to generate compliant FedEx labels from DUSK’s existing data structures, giving them immediate carrier access with zero workflow disruption.
The scale at which the platform operates reflects that reliability in practice: 2.1 billion items are processed in 2025, including 2,147,750 items over Black Friday weekend 2025 alone.
Real Impact: Customers in Action
The platform’s value is best understood through the businesses that depend on it.
P.Louise is a fast-growing cosmetics brand whose rapid rise in order volume was exposing serious cracks in their warehouse operation. A mispick rate of nearly one in six orders, inefficient picking routes, and the limitations of their existing shipping platform were slowing fulfilment and driving costs upwards. After implementing Helm, picking time dropped by 50%, mispicks were significantly reduced through barcode verification at the point of packing, and automated shipping rules eliminated manual carrier decisions entirely. P.Louise scaled order volumes without a proportional increase in headcount.
“Helm has truly transformed the way we manage inventory and workflows across multiple sites. Integrating our Shopify and TikTok stores was essential for P.Louise’s growth, and Helm delivered exactly the fast and flexible solution we needed.”
Joshua Martin, Head of Operations, P.Louise
For global fulfilment operator Evri, with operations spanning the UK, Europe, North America, and the Middle East, slow and resource-heavy integrations were a serious constraint. Some integrations were taking months to complete, tying up the development team and slowing their ability to bring new retailers and sales channels live. With Voila’s library of pre-built integrations and a volume-based commercial model, Evri cut integration time from months to a matter of weeks, freed their development team to focus on core priorities, and accelerated their expansion into new markets.
“The key with Voila was the immediate understanding of our business needs and the provision of scalable, out-of-the-box integrations. Without Voila, we wouldn’t have been able to move as swiftly as we have.”
Dave Dowman, Director of International Fulfilment, Evri
For JD.com, one of the world’s largest eCommerce platforms, entering the UK and EU markets required local expertise and seamless channel connectivity. Neuro provided exactly that, enabling JD.com to access new markets quickly and reliably, without the complexity and lead time that international expansion typically demands.
What It Means to Us
Being recognised in the Standout Platform / Technology / Tool category at the UK Digital Excellence Awards is something the whole team is proud of. eCommerce operations do not allow for downtime, slow responses, or workarounds. Building a platform that customers trust with their business-critical processes, at the volumes we handle, is what drives us every day.
“We built this platform to solve a real problem. eCommerce businesses were failing under the weight of fragmented systems and the manual processes holding them together. Our goal was to build something that works reliably at scale, that absorbs operational complexity rather than passing it on to people, and that allows our customers to grow without their fulfilment becoming their biggest risk. To have that work recognised at this level means a great deal to us as a team.”
